Mixed Lot of Thoughts

My application for the afternoon off from work was approved. Life has become better and brighter again. Besides, it is now the right day and a good occasion to play The Cure’s “Friday I’m In Love”. I can bugger it all with all things associated with the gulag and tear my mind away from all the gulag-induced despair for about two and a half-days before it envelopes me once again.

On a more worrying note, the third finger on my left hand is showing disturbing signs of being affected by psoriasis. This does not bode well, since now about five small red spots have appeared on my body. I guess the despair and the stress arising from the situation are taking a toll on me and they are manifesting - pleas from my body to try to look at life on the brighter side, which I simply cannot for the life of me.

I have recently been approached by two different people to do some writing / editing on their projects on a volunteer basis. I am not saying that these are indeed endorsements of my ability to string sentences together. I am more inclined to believe how I just happened to be there. When I asked one of them why they did not approach those from the teaching profession, he remarked that he was more confident of me, a bloke who got rejected by the education authorities, than those bona-fide school teachers who had a Graduate Diploma in Education. I thought he was either doing some sweet-talking, or was taking the piss out of me. Not that I was begrudging him for approaching me. This was just his personal opinion, although I would be appalled if it turned out to be not far from the truth.

I do enjoy writing. I do enjoy doing a bit of editing. This is despite the fact that I do not feel as though I am confident enough with my standard of grammar. Doing both of these would open up ways with which I can continue to learn. These are opportunities where I can sharpen my proficiency in writing better. One of the reasons why I have this little space here to spew drivel is simply to give myself an outlet where I can express myself. The bonus comes when I have gather an audience, no matter how big or small it is, of whom I am thankful for everyone of them.

The weekend will probably be spent blowing my brains out and incurring more sleep debt by playing games on the PeeCee. I tend to visit sites less on weekends except for a few, which is good incidentally, since the recent events have left a sour taste in my mouth. As much as I do not condone hacking other people’s sites, I feel that there is a price to pay for everything, even if you decide to be foul-mouthed about almost everything, and that there will always be malicious people around. However, I get a little disturbed when some are calling it “blog terrorism”, when things which should be rightly termed as “terrorism” were unfolding in a city many miles away. I am not trying to trivialize the extent of loss when loads of one’s blog entries disappeared overnight, but over there, someone may well be losing their loved ones for good through a malicious act, which says a lot about us as humans. Lives versus the 3,000 or so archived whinges, I thought this is really a no-brainer.

No matter. Dear reader, have a good weekend.
