Creep

I’m listening to the acoustic version of the Radiohead classic “Creep” as I type this. Had a quiet weekend, which could have been better of course. Despite all the tries and struggles to think things right, it is not easy for me to gather enough courage to ask people out. Maybe some things take time.

The condition of my scalp has worsened and new spots are appearing on my body. The fear that things might run out of control prompted me to seek medical help on Saturday morning. Somehow going to the doctor on a weekend is less stressful than visiting the doctor on the weekday, since there was no reason for them to suspect a bloke like me would be hankering for a medical certificate. Cloderm was ditched since it did not cause the patches to subside. Silkis was prescribed instead.

Since he had a bit of time and the patient load on a weekend was not heavy, he took a bit of time to explain to me in detail what psoriasis was. I listened attentively as he ran through a list of possible causes, and when he uttered the words “stress” and “physical distress”, whatever he said to me before was instantaneously forgotten.

The two words were more than telling.

I bought two books on Friday and they instantly became problems for me in terms of where to put them away in my very cramped three-room HDB pigeon hole. Revealing the titles would really be dead giveaways to where I am at in my personal life:

(a) Getting Through the Tough Stuff by Charles Swindoll
(b) When God Doesn’t Answer Your Prayer by Jerry Sittser

I guess this is a good time to start picking up the reading habit again.
