Images From the Fuzzy Past (Part 2)

Fuzzy I think we must have agreed to meet at the City Hall station because I remembered us sitting at the nearby Café Cartel, having our lunch while chatting. It was interesting meeting her in person for the very first time, since all I knew about her was the nick (or pseudonym) and those almost cryptic words on her site which were too profound for me to really unravel their true meaning.

All that I remembered of her was that she wore a black T-shirt and possibly clad in jeans. It was a weekend after all and for a young lady like her, who had yet to step foot into the corporate jungle (filled with power suits, A-line tight skirts and pointed heels), this was a casual attire for any form of a meetup.

My first impressions of her were more about her persona than anything else. Unlike some other girls I knew who were pretty easily impressionable at their age, I thought she was pretty radical, in terms of ideas, at her age. Through our lunchtime conversation, I realized that she was more of a thinker than what I made her out to be. She dared to be different and she was brave enough to explore philosophies, thoughts and ideas which were beyond what she was acquainted to on a daily basis. I guess that was why the writing on her site was a tad profound and radical in the first place.

I reckon that for someone like her, being a thinker was an admirable trait because she had to work out aspects of her faith on her own or to rely on more academic / informed sources when thinking issues through. Probably this could be the reason why there was a semblance of stability in her faith at her young age.

At the end of our meetup (this was not a date), I took out a copy of the labour of my life and pushed it gently towards her end of the table. It was what she asked for and certainly I was happy enough to give that to her. We parted ways soon after and that was the last we met, although to this day, I still visit her site regularly just to give my brain a bit of a work out.
